If you are missing one or more teeth a bridge may be the best option to replace the missing teeth. When a bridge is created, the teeth on either side of the missing tooth/teeth will be used as anchors for the bridge that will extend across the gap. Bridges are strong and durable, made from gold, metal or porcelain. Before the procedure takes place, Dr. Pike will take a mold of the area so that a personalized bridge piece can be created to fit as close and comfortably to your natural teeth as possible.
While we wait for your custom bridge to arrive you will be fitted with a temporary bridge. The temporary bridge will protect the anchor teeth and the exposed gum areas. It will also look more appealing than having a missing tooth. Once the custom permanent bridge arrives it will be set in place and adhered to the anchor teeth. It may take a little while to get used to the bridge, but after a few days it will feel like you have your own teeth back again! After a short phase of eating only soft foods you will be able to eat whatever your heart desires with no problems!
